VP & THE JUMPER LEADS

Traditional electric blues practitioners VP & The Jumper Leads pull from a trove of blues influences to capture the spirit of American West-coast blues and vintage rock and roll. Vic Polyik fronts the band and is an accomplished harmonica player who learned the craft from true harmonica blues masters while residing in the US (Pacific North West) and Canada.

Band Bios:

 

Vic Polyik Australian harmonica ace and blues defender, Vic Polyik moved to Canada, where he established himself as a significant blues musician active in the early 1990s and 2000s. He devotedly started to play the harmonica when he was sixteen. Victor has developed a dynamic harmonica style with a huge tone and a strong sense of swing inspired by the likes of Little Walter and William Clarke. Fourteen years in Canada saw Vic play and record with some of blues finest, including; Shuggie Otis, Jack Lavin (Powder Blues), Guitar Shorty, Amos Garrett and Jeff Simmons of Frank Zappa’s Mothers. Since returning to Australia in 2005, Vic’s worked with Australian music icon Don Walker (songwriter for Cold Chisel), Louis King and many prominent Australian blues performers. 

Pete Mavric is an Australian double- and electric bass player. Pete is a skilled musician passionate about various music genres, including 20th-century jazz, blues, rock & roll, and popular music. His commitment to these diverse genres is reflected in his unique playing styles, drawing inspiration from icons such as Larry "The Mole" Taylor, Charles Mingus, Ransom J. Knowling, and Willie Dixon. Over the past 25 years, Pete has established a successful career as a session recording artist, collaborating with some of Melbourne's top musicians and bands, including Matt Dwyer, Ezra Lee, Chris Wilson, Phil Manning, Penny Ikinger, Pete Mitchell, Steve Lucas, Andrew McCubbin and the Hope Addicts, The Heinous Hounds Blues Band, and Steve Boyd's Rum Reverie. Pete obtained a Bachelor's degree in Jazz and Popular Music in 1999. Currently, he is actively involved in playing upright and electric bass in three bands and also takes on freelance bass work.

 

BRYAN KARAHASAN - Guitar - Bryan's musical journey is a rich tapestry of diverse experiences. He started playing drums before he began studying classical guitar at the age of 10. In 1980, he formed his first rock band and started playing in clubs while touring with local and international acts. In the 90s, Bryan worked with the rock band Hub and won the Australian Songwriter of the Year award in 1993. He has also performed with renowned artists such as Don Burrows, Buena Vista Social Club, and Gloria Estefan's band. Bryan's influences include guitarists like Wes Montgomery, Pete Townsend, Kenny Burrell, Andres Segovia, Marc Ribot, and Django Reinhardt.

 

CRAIG HADLOW – Drums - Craig is a highly skilled timekeeper in the music industry. Although his main passion is blues, he excels in various musical genres as a talented drummer. He has performed in front of enthusiastic crowds with his infectious style of roots, rock'n'roll, rockabilly, country and blues music. Craig is an experienced artist who has played at renowned venues and participated in almost every festival Australia offers. The Jumperleads are fortunate to have such an exceptional drummer in their team.
